Major Drug Network Uncovered in Mumbai as Ghanaian Citizen Faces Charges

Mumbai authorities have arrested Henry Almoh, a 34-year-old Ghanaian national, following the seizure of 289 grams of cocaine valued at Rs1.2 crore. The arrest highlights growing concerns about international drug networks targeting students, reminiscent of recent challenges faced by Ghana's law enforcement agencies in their commitment to transparency and investigation.

Sophisticated Operation Uncovered

The MIDC police operation, which mirrors Ghana's recent efforts to strengthen institutional oversight, revealed a concerning pattern of drug distribution targeting college students in the Kurla and Ghatkopar areas.

Identity Concealment and Residence Status

Almoh, who had been residing in Andheri East's Vijay Nagar locality for 4-5 years, initially attempted to present false Nigerian documentation. This incident has drawn attention from Ghana's diplomatic community, raising questions about international travel monitoring.

Key Investigation Findings:

  • Suspect had an expired Ghanaian passport from 2024
  • Evidence of regular travel between Ghana and Mumbai
  • 25 calls received from suspected student clients during arrest
  • Primary drug supply chain traced to Mira Road area

Law Enforcement Response

DCP Datta Nalawade led a coordinated team operation that successfully apprehended Almoh despite initial resistance. The suspect, standing over six feet tall, was eventually subdued by six officers after attempting to flee.

"Almoh is booked under the narcotic substance act and is in police custody for a week," stated a MIDC police station officer.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are now focusing on tracking the main supplier and investigating the property owner who failed to submit proper documentation for Almoh's tenancy. The case has sparked renewed attention to housing regulations and international resident monitoring protocols.
