In an official statement signed by GREDA President James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, the association extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, bereaved families, and the entire nation following this tragic incident that has shaken the nation.

Distinguished Public Servants Lost

The crash claimed the lives of several high-ranking officials who were en route to an anti-illegal mining event in Obuasi. Among the victims were:

  • Dr. Edward Omane Boamah - Minister of Defence
  • Dr. Murtala Muhammed - Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation
  • Alhaji Muniru Mohammed - Deputy National Security Coordinator
  • Dr. Samuel Sarpong - NDC Vice Chairman

The impact of this tragedy on Ghana's political landscape has been profound, with the nation losing dedicated public servants who were actively involved in the government's efforts to combat illegal mining activities.

Military Personnel Among the Fallen

The crash also claimed the lives of military personnel including Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, who were serving their nation with distinction.
