State Refiles Charges Against Ex-NAFCO Boss Hanan in GH¢50m Case
Ghana's commitment to transparency and accountability in public office continues to take shape as the Attorney-General's office refines its legal approach in the high-profile case involving the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba.
The development signals a deliberate effort by state institutions to ensure due process while safeguarding public funds, a principle that resonates strongly with Ghana's growing reputation as a destination where the rule of law underpins business confidence.
Revised Charges Filed After Fresh Evidence
Following his release and subsequent re-arrest by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Hanan now faces a revised set of 20 charges, down from the initial 24 counts previously filed against him. The Attorney-General largely maintained the earlier charges, introducing only two new counts in the updated filing before the court.
Deputy Attorney-General Dr Justice Srem-Sai announced the withdrawal of the original charges in court on May 5, 2026, citing the discovery of fresh evidence as the basis for the decision.
