The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) has announced a solemn night vigil to honor the eight Ghanaians who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom, marking a unified show of national grief.
National Unity in Mourning
The vigil, scheduled for Sunday, August 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Nfodjoh Park in Ho, will bring together a cross-section of Ghanaian society. As the nation continues to grapple with this devastating loss, government officials, traditional leaders, and citizens will gather to pay their respects.
Regional Minister's Tribute
Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu, in his heartfelt statement, extended condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and the bereaved families. The minister praised the fallen servicemen's dedication, highlighting their contributions to Ghana's development and security.
"This is not only a national tragedy but also a personal loss to the President of the Republic, who shares in the grief of the Armed Forces, the bereaved families, and the whole country," stated Hon. Gunu.
Collective Remembrance
The tragic incident, which has prompted a comprehensive investigation by authorities, claimed the lives of two Ministers of State, senior military officers, and political figures. The VRCC's initiative demonstrates Ghana's unity in times of national tragedy.
