Justice for Bashiru Isak: Ghana Repatriates Slain Citizen, Demands Accountability
The mortal remains of Bashiru Isak, a Ghanaian father of three tragically killed during xenophobic attacks in South Africa, have been returned home. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the body arrived at Accra International Airport on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 6:40 pm, marking a crucial step in the nation's demand for justice.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, the Ministry said the government, through Ghana's High Commission in Pretoria and with the consent of the bereaved family, facilitated the repatriation. Family members and senior Foreign Affairs officials received the body, which has been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital.
