World Cup Ticket Row Exposes NDC Accountability Gaps
A dispute over a diverted FIFA World Cup travel slot in Awutu Senya East has raised fresh questions about transparency and accountability within the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Constituency executive Kobby has accused MP Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor of redirecting a presidential travel allocation meant for Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare to her husband, Yussif.
How Was the World Cup Travel Slot Supposed to Be Allocated?
The Presidency allocated one FIFA World Cup travel slot to every constituency chairman across the country, with a clear directive. MPs were instructed to collect passport details from their respective chairpersons and submit them for government processing. It was a straightforward system designed to reward the grassroots leadership that keeps political organizations functioning.
Kobby, who is aligned with the chairman, told Obaatanpa Radio that Chairman Agyare complied fully with the process. He submitted his passport documents directly to the MP after being contacted. However, those documents were allegedly never forwarded for processing.
